must wear GLASSES...

this is day 14ish of operation Maddie wear her glasses...the first day was awful we put them on...she would take them off...on off...on off...but we just kept on and pushed through for about 6 hours...she cried, she screamed, she pouted...but I think it is getting better...Maddie will take them off and hand them to me...I will clean them and put them back on...she now tries to put them on herself...and it is cute to see her put them on upside down and sideways...but overall Maddie now understands that she has to wear them...she has two pairs to choose from...I think that helps...overall I think I have been better about making her wear them and consistent...which of course helps...I also know...that I noticed her eyes turning in when she gets tired or focusing...I tried to ignore it...I still do ignore things in hope they will go away...I know this is something I need to work on...but glasses bring unwanted attention...unwanted comments...but...I know this is what Maddie needs...so I will do my best...today is doctors visit to check her ears and tubes...not a surprise just another accessory...

  1. Embrace the accessories! :) Now, I cannot picture Kristen without her accessories! Imagine trying to keep hearing aides in as well...that was fun! I think her glasses are adorable and the only attention it should attract is due to being so cute!

  3. Could she be any cuter in those glasses?! My little Elijah has had to wear glasses since 5 months of age. Despite his "low tone", he manages with perfect strength and acuity to rip off those glasses the second he is frustrated...or bored...or in need of something to chew... It does bring on a little extra attention, but mostly it's been comments about how cute he is in the glasses. That, and the occasional person who thinks that glasses on a baby are a fashion statement to which I finally got weary of my calm and collected response and finally just said, "Seriously?" :)

  4. I can't even imagine the struggle those weeks were! Good job to you and Maddie for sticking with it! I tried to get Sutter to keep a hat on while we were outside yesterday and let's just say he won!

  5. WOW! I am so impressed at your perseverance! (Says the slacker mom who rarely makes her son wear his orthotics.) She is so cute in them! I am sure you do get lots of comments, now. Not sure how anyone could help exclaiming over her cuteness!

  7. those glasses are a great fit and very cute. Good on you for sticking to your guns, I like the idea of cleaning them when she takes them off and then putting them straight back on, perfect -

  9. I remember when Davey wore glasses. His glasses looked like Harry Potter glasses. It was SO hard to keep them on him. Luckily he outgrew them and doesn't have to wear them anymore.

Maddie looks SO cute in her glasses.
